The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has allowed concessionary import of solar heaters from Mauritius under the Preferential Trade Agreement between the two countries. The FBR has issued SRO 639(I)/2018 here on Thursday to notify the import of solar heaters at reduced rates of duties and taxes from Mauritius under the Preferential Trade Agreement.

As per SRO 639(I)/2018, the extent of percentage of exemption would be 50 percent on the import of solar heaters from November 30, 2007 and 100 percent exemption on the import of solar heaters from November 30, 2008.

Under SRO 1151 (I)/2007, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 19 of the Customs Act, 1969, the federal government had exempted with effect from November 30, 2007, the goods specified falling under the Headings and sub-headings of the First Schedule to the said Act as specified to the extent of percentage of exemption on the import into Pakistan from the Republic of Mauritius, if made in conformity with the Rules of Origin notified by Ministry of Commerce as agreed under the Preferential Trade Agreement between the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and the Republic of Mauritius.
