The National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Karachi has recommended a reference against Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, former minister of petroleum for illegally appointing Shaikh Imran-ul-Haq as Managing Director Pakistan State Oil (PSO) and others.

The NAB Karachi has recommended a reference against Shahid Khaqan Abbasi for appointing Shaikh Imran-ul-Haq as MD Pakistan State Oil (PSO) by violating the rules and procedures set by federal government for the appointments of CEOs in Public Sector Enterprises (PSEs).

The investigation revealed that Imran was appointed as MD PSO without considering his academic and professional credentials but on the basis of personal affiliation with the minister.

The investigation further revealed that Sheikh Imran-ul-Haq developed personal relations with Khaqan during the establishment of LNG terminal in 2013 to 2015 and thus his illegal appointment caused financial loss amounting to Rs 138.93 million to the exchequer.
