Lack of moisture was meanwhile starting to threaten some recently-planted wheat areas, the report said. "Absence of rain and low temperatures have started to limit crop development in central and southern parts of the farm belt," it said.
More than 92% of the wheat crop nonetheless remained in average to good condition, the report said. In its monthly crop report, the Agro-Industrial Ministry said on Thursday that 2019/20 wheat planting had been completed under mostly favorable conditions. "In general terms the crop is developing without any major problems, although some wheat growing areas could benefit from rain," the government report said.
