Prices of seed cotton per 40kg in Sindh were at Rs 3400-3700, in Punjab rates were at Rs 3200-3800, they said. In Balochistan, seed cotton prices were at Rs 3600-3700, they said.
In Sindh Binola prices per maund were at Rs 1400-1550, while in Punjab rates were at Rs 1550-1650, they said and adding that polyester fibre per kg rates were at Rs 187.
Market sources said that ginners in Punjab were on strike partially against the increase in withholding tax. Another sector said that phutti arrivals improved, which may bring prices down in the near future. Besides cotton analyst Naseem Usman said that prices were soft in international markets. This is also a factor behind the falling of trading in the local market.
Cotton prices were lower in the global markets, dealers said. The following deals reported: 1600 bales of cotton from Tando Adam at Rs 7850/7900, 1000 bales from Shahdadpur at Rs 7850/7900, 1400 bales from Sanghar at Rs 7850/7875, 1000 bales from Hyderabad at Rs 7800/7850, 600 bales from Nawabshah at Rs 7900, 600 bales from Rajanpur at Rs 8300, 400 bales from Gojra at Rs 8250, 400 bales from Moongi Bangla at Rs 8200 and 400 bales from Khanewal at Rs 8400, they said.
