The Senate Standing Committee on National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination was scheduled to meet on Friday at the Parliament House for seeking details of Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) proposals for the next financial year from the ministry and to make recommendations under the Rule 166(7) of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the Senate, 2012.
The committee was also expected to consider misbehaviour of executive director Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), Islamabad, an issue raised by Senator Muhammad Usman Khan Kakar on January 24, 2019.
However, Chairman Committee Senator Mian Muhammad Ateeq Shaikh said that no responsible person, including Minister for National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination Aamer Mehmood Kiani and secretary national health services, is present. All the committee members took a unanimous decision to postpone this meeting.
Shaikh said that this was an important meeting in which issues such as the PSDP budget for the development of hospitals were to be taken up. He asserted that Chairman Senate Sadiq Sanjrani has given a ruling in this regard and has ordered prompt action.
It was observed that secretary national health services arrived 30 minutes late but the decision to postpone the meeting had already been taken. Senators including Dr Ghous Muhammad Khan Niazi, Dilawar Khan, Dr Ashok Kumar, Sardar Muhammad Shafiq Tareen, Manzoor Ahmed Kakar and Usman Khan Kakar were present in the meeting.
