The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA)'s prosecutor opposed the extension in the bail of Asif Ali Zardari and his sister on the grounds that it was unjustified, at which defence lawyer Farooq H Naek contended that the FIA should have presented the final challan in the case. The court also sought the progress on the case from the investigation officer of FIA, upon which he responded that the case is being transferred by NAB on the orders of the apex court.
The defence counsel submitted before the court that the apex court didn't direct NAB for filing of reference but asked for further investigation into the matter. The court ordered the prosecutor to either submit a challan or petition for transfer of the case. The prosecutor told the court that the record of the case is being transferred in cooperation with NAB.
The court then approved the plea of the defence for extension in the interim bail of his client Asif Ali Zardari and his sister Faryal Talpur. Meanwhile, the banking court put off the hearing on the bail petitions for Anwar Majeed and Abdul Ghani Majeed till February 20, 2019. The FIA Prosecutor also submitted the medical report of Aslam Masood for his non-production and informed the court that he would be produced when he is medically fit.
