In a statement issued here on Friday, he said that the terrorism and extremism affected business community of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and particular exporters are facing multiple difficulties and instead of their facilitation by Pakistan Railways and putting all burden on them to exempt the government is highly disgusting.
Sarhadi is raising voice for the establishment of modern dry port, launching of cargo export train between Peshawar-Karachi and provision of facilities to exporters. But, the authorities are not responding to them.
He recalled that the present Dry Port was established in the Railways Goods Godown on temporary basis in 1986 and then federal minister for Railways, Nisar Mohammad Khan have promised to establish modern dry port on the pattern of other cities of the country. But, despite, the passage of 22 years, the present dry port is still working on temporary basis.
Sarhadi further said that during the recent visit of the federal minister for Railways, SCCI have put a long agenda before him. However, he exempted himself by asking private sector to come forward to operate both dry port and cargo train.
He said that if all responsibilities are performed by the private sector, then what Pakistan Railways has to do. He said there is a need for taking the problems of the business community of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa seriously.
He asked the Federal Minister for Railways, Sheikh Rashid to take immediate steps for the resolution of the problems of the business community and exporters and launching Peshawar-Karachi cargo train just operationalise Azakhel Dry Port with immediate effect and also include GITA from the Azakhel Dry Port.
