Sanity seems to have finally prevailed in the Oval Office as the US President has ultimately admitted the strategic importance of Pakistan and the role played by this South Asian country in the global war on terror. According to media reports, US President Donald Trump has said that he wants a "great relationship" with Pakistan and is looking forward to meeting the country's new leadership. The US President has underscored that his administration has initiated peace talks with the Taliban. He also announced that a meeting with the new leadership of Pakistan will take place "very soon."
The foregoing shows that the US President has taken a big U-turn insofar as US-Pakistan relationship is concerned. We welcome his U-turn.
