Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leaders including Maryam Nawaz on Thursday paid a visit to former prime minister Nawaz Sharif at Kot Lakhpat Jail. The PML-N leader Maryam Nawaz tweeted that she saw Nawaz Sharif in high spirit in her recent visit to Kot Lakhpat Jail. An accountability court on December 24 had sentenced Nawaz to seven years in prison in Al-Azizia Steel Mills corruption reference while acquitting him in the Flagship Investment reference. Maryam expressed her gratitude to the people for their prayers, unflinching support and good wishes.

Former Sindh governor Muhammad Zubair, Zahid Hamid, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Rana Tanveer Hussain, Saira Afzal Tarar, Khurram Dastagir, Qamar-ul-Zaman Khan, Mian Marghoob, Rohail Asghar and a few other party leaders also met Nawaz Sharif.

Speaking to the media after the visit, former defence minister Khurram Dastagir said that Nawaz's ideology is that public should have the right to govern. "Rulers should stop being arrogant," he added.

Former Sindh governor Zubair said that no court decision carries anything substantial against Nawaz Sharif.

"No paper has Nawaz's signature on it," he added. "The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) government has put the name of 172 people on the Exit Control List and there is talk of governor's rule in Sindh. The PTI leadership in Sindh is not politically mature," Zubair added.

Talking about the country's economic condition, Zubair said that interest rate in the country has risen to 10 percent. The Asad Umar's performance has not been good either, he added. He further said that the government's priority at the moment is getting aid from Saudi Arabia and China.
