Model Customs Collectorate (MCC), Appraisement West is going to make upgraded custom house laboratory (CHL) operational by January 25, 2019.

According to details, the CHL, which will be operational by January 25, 2019, has been upgraded with new equipment to expedite the finalisation of test reports of imported/exported cargo for clearance purpose.

The MCC Appraisement West claimed that the equipment would not only reduce testing time from other labs by 20 days but would also ensure more accuracy in samples being tested/re-tested. For the purpose, a Lab Fee Desk (LFD) is also being established at NBP, Customs House Branch to facilitate the trade.

It said that the department would also constitute a monitoring committee comprising of AC/DC (lab) and one nominee each from all relevant associations and chambers to monitor the performance and compile a monthly report in this regard.

Furthermore, the CHL reports would be valid for a period of 12 months and in case of any discrepancies in the declaration, previous test report or for any other reason, a chemical whose test report is conducted within 12 months can also be referred to the lab for testing after approval of concerned officer.
