Mercury dipped to minus 11 degrees Celsius in Kalam as cold weather gripped the most parts of the country in the last 24 hours, the Met Office said on Thursday.

Fog continued to dim the visibility in Punjab and Upper Sindh. Temperature in Skardu remained minus 10 degrees Celsius, Gupis and Astore minus 7, each, Bagrote minus 6, Malamjabba, Rawalakot and Hunza minus 4, each, Dir minus 3, Chitral, Parachinar and Gilgit minus 2, each, Kakul and Kalat minus 1, each over the past 24 hours.

In the next 24 hours: Scattered rain-thunderstorm is expected in Malakand, Hazara and Rawalpindi Divisions, besides Islamabad, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir. Isolated falls are likely in Peshawar, Kohat, Mardan, Bannu, D.I. Khan, Quetta, Zhob, Sargodha, Faisalabad and Gujranwala Divisions. Fog may persist in South Punjab and Upper Sindh during morning and night hours.

Snow is expected to fall over the mountains in Murree, Galliyat and Malakand Division, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir from Friday night until Sunday morning.
