The government of Punjab has failed to appoint the Chairman Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) and Vice Chancellor of Punjab's first Information Technology University (ITU) till date. Since the removal of founding vice chancellor of ITU and Chairman PITB Dr Umar Saif, these seats are lying vacant but the government has still shown no serious attitude in this regard. The sources said due to vacant posts the administrative affairs of these organizations are suffering a lot and the morale of the officers and staff is declining.

Chairman P& D Habib ur Rehman said that the criteria for the appointment of chairman PITB has been finalized and soon vacant seat will be filled on merit.

The sources said that additional charge of chairman PITB was given to Chairman Planning and Development Board Punjab Habib-ur-Rehman Gillani who was unable to spare time because of his busy schedule. The charge of ITU was offered to senior Professor Dr Akmal Hussain but he declined to accept it. They said a summary for giving additional charge of ITU VC to Punjab University Vice Chancellor Dr Niaz Ahmed was sent to the law minister for approval.

It is pertinent to mention here that Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar, in recognition of the services of Dr Umar Saif, has given him the task of establishing e-Khidmat Center in Dera Ghazi Khan. He has started working on the project and soon the Chief Minister will inaugurate it.
