Six top journalists were given awards for their outstanding contributions in humanitarian reporting at the 2nd Humanitarian Reporting Awards 2018 event jointly organized by the Centre for Excellence in Journalism at the Institute of Business Administration (CEJ-IBA), Karachi and the International Committee of the Red Cross, here on Thursday.

The awards were given in three categories: Mainstream Broadcast (Urdu), Mainstream Print and Online (Urdu) and Mainstream Print and Online (English) for news stories published between November 2017 to September 2018.

The winners and runners-up in the three categories were: Muhammad Hasnain of Hum News as winner while Raja Kamran of Neo TV was runner up in Mainstream Broadcast (Urdu) category. Umer Daraz Nangiana of BBC Urdu as winner while Islam Gul Afridi of Peshawar Today as runner up in Mainstream Print and Online (Urdu). Sabrina Toppa, a freelance journalist won award in mainstream Print and Online (English) category while Rizwana Naqvi of Dawn was declared runner-up.
