Apart from Karachi, he said that the party would also be part of tree plantation campaign in other parts of Sindh. He pointed out the world is facing the grave problem of climate change and Pakistan is no exception it. "We have a collective responsibility to save the earth from climate change," he urged and appealed that every Pakistan should plant one tree.
He said that the MQM Pakistan is now a part of tree plantation of the federal government and appealed to Karachiites to participate in it for the future of their generations.
He also called upon all NGOs to help the MQM to achieve the goals of tree plantation and said the party would also make all its workers part of the national tree plantation campaign.
Mayor Karachi Wasim Akthar speaking on the occasion told the media that the KMC has more than three hundred thousand saplings, which would be used to make the city green, which according to him has turned into heap of garbage. He also vowed to make NGOs, schools & colleges and youth part of tree plantation of the KMC.
He said that the MQM workers would guard the saplings to be planted to grow into full-fledged trees and believed that more than 30 million trees would be added in few years if all the people of Karachi plant one tree each.
