It is quite clear that the timing of Taliban visit, which has coincided with that of Washington's special peace envoy for Afghanistan, indicates that Pakistan is seeking to help restart the talks. Pakistan is always for an Afghan-owned and Afghan-led solution to the issue.

The Afghan peace process is likely to witness some meaningful progress anytime soon mainly because of the fact that before coming to Pakistan, the Taliban delegation travelled to Russia, China and Iran. How ironic, however, it is that even when a good outcome or conclusion seems certain, things can still go wrong.
