The Karachi Port handled 126,329 tonnes of cargo comprising 84,720 tonnes of import cargo and 41,609 tonnes of export cargo including 5,484 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Friday.

The total import cargos of 84,720 tonnes comprised of 52,117 tonnes of containerised cargo; 2,607 tonnes of bulk cargo; 7,872 tonnes of DPA; 232 tonnes of ammonium sulphate; 290 tonnes of yellow peas and 21,602 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 41,609 tonnes comprised of 21,309 tonnes of containerised cargo; 14,300 tonnes of clinkers and 6,000 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

As many as 5,484 containers comprising of 3,361 containers import and 2,123 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 1,287 of 20's and 1,008 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 29 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 609 of 20's and 453 of 40's loaded containers while 160 of 20's and 224 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were four ships namely CMA CGM Medea, APL Le Havre, Huang Hai Developer and Seacon-7 carrying containers and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were six vessels viz. MOL Grandeur, Xin Los Angles, Wehr Schulau, Liana, MT Karachi and Halil Sahin carrying containers, oil tankers and fertilizer respectively currently at the berths.

PORT QASIM


A cargo volume of 89,762 tonnes comprising 66,468 tonnes of import cargo and 23,294 tonnes of export cargo including 1,500 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Friday.

The total import cargo of 66,468 tonnes includes 5,714 tonnes of LNG; 34,971 tonnes of coal; 3,102 tonnes of soyabean; 2,912 tonnes of diesel oil; 8,050 tonnes of palm oil; 4,250 tonnes of mogas; 1,649 tonnes of chemical; 614 tonnes of general cargo and 5,206 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 23,294 tonnes includes 23,294 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 1,500 containers comprising of 274 containers import and 1,226 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.

There were two ships namely Sam Hawk and Al-Gharrafa carrying coal and LNG respectively sailed out to sea on Friday morning, while four more ships namely Maersk Bentonville, Al Mutiara, Weastern Star and Nordic Geneva carrying containers, coal, soyabean and diesel oil respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of nine vessels were occupied berths to load/offload containers, general cargo, soyabean, coal, LNG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

As many as eight vessels viz. CMA CGM Medea, Ranger, Sakizaya Hero, Great Praise, Ariadne, Magda, Joker and Maritime Suzanne carrying containers, soyabean, canola, coal, cement and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were four ships viz. Teno, Great Praise, Ranger and Gaschem Nordesa carrying containers, coal, soyabean and LPG respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal, Grains and Furtilizer Terminal and SSGC LPG Terminal respectively on Friday.

There were four ships namely Teno and Gaschem Nordesa carrying containers and chemical respectively due to arrive on Friday, while three more ships namely Ariana, Diyala and Nordmed carrying containers are due to arrive on Saturday.
