Pakistan Customs Friday foiled an attempt to smuggle smart gadgets and seized huge cache of cellphones, smart watches and laptops on international arrival at Jinnah International Airport (JIAP).

A credible information was received by Deputy Collector Tauseef Gorchani that some unscrupulous elements were transporting substantial quantity of cellphones, smart watches and laptops from Dubai via flight EK-604.

Reacting to this information, the customs staff posted at JIAP mounted stiff vigilance under the supervision of Deputy Collector Tauseef.

Subsequently, the customs staff during passengers' scanning spotted three passengers namely Salahuddin, Siddique Sikandar and Muhammad Hussain, coming from Dubai via flight Ek-604.

On their refusal to have any contraband goods in their possession, the custom staff conducted physical examination of them that led the recovery of 46 Iphone 11, two Samsung phones, 15 laptops, nine smart watches and nine Ipods worth Rs. 8.4 million.

Customs officials said that the accused Salahuddin was the investor while Siddique and Hussain were carriers and added that case had been registered and they would be produced in customs court on October 5 (today).
