Pakistan Stock Exchange Friday ended on a positive note on the fifth consecutive day on the back of healthy buying by local and foreign investors.

BRIndex100 gained 36.06 points or 1.05 percent to close at 3,475.88 points. BRIndex100 touched intraday high of 3,476.08 and intraday low of 3,432.45 points. Volumes stood at 243.766 million shares.

BRIndex30 increased by 154.64 points or 0.85 percent to close at 18,260.36 points with a turnover of 148.638 million shares.

The KSE-100 Index surged by 281.06 points or 0.86 percent to close at 33,033.32 points. Daily trading volumes on the ready counter stood at 261.816 million shares as compared to 324.260 million shares traded Thursday.

Foreign investors remained net buyers of shares worth $0.3 million. The market capitalization increased by Rs 48 billion to Rs 6.553 trillion. Out of total 387 active scrips, 248 closed in positive, 120 in negative while the value of 19 stocks remained unchanged.

WorldCall Telecom was the volume leader with 33.228 million shares. It gained Re 0.08 to close at Rs 1.26 followed by Dost Steels that increased by Re 1.00 to close at Rs 5.51 with 15.182 million shares.

Unilever Foods and Bata Pak were the top gainers with Rs 50.00 and Rs 27.39, respectively to close at Rs 5,650.00 and Rs 1,400.00. Colgate Palmolive and Rafhan Maize were the top losers with Rs 89.01 and Rs 88.99, respectively to close at Rs 1,811.00 and Rs 5,911.01.

BR Automobile Assembler Index gained 43.76 points or 0.89 percent to close at 4,936.02 points with total turnover of 3.666 million shares.

BR Cement Index increased by 30.28 points or 1.04 percent to close at 2,942.03 points with 35.888 million shares.

BR Commercial Banks Index inched up by 36.08 points or 0.47 percent to close at 7,752.52 points with 15.298 million shares.

BR Power Generation and Distribution Index surged by 57.9 points or 1.28 percent to close at 4,598.63 points with 10.377 million shares.

BR Oil and Gas Index closed at 3,766.06 points, up 56.02 points or 1.51 percent with 17.364 million shares.

BR Tech. & Comm. Index gained 17.24 points or 2.47 percent to close at 714.84 points with 50.140 million shares. Ahsan Mehanti at Arif Habib Corporation said that the stocks closed higher amid institutional interest on speculations in the earnings season. He said foreign inflows and expectations for early resolve to the circular debt crises played a catalytic role in bullish close.
