The Karachi Port handled 105,550 tonnes of cargo comprising 88,697 tonnes of import cargo and 16,853 tonnes of export cargo including 5,070 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday.

The total import cargos of 88,697 tonnes comprised of 40,122 tonnes of containerised cargo; 31,189 tonnes of bulk cargo; 10,886 tonnes of DPA and 6,500 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 16,853 tonnes comprised of 15,053 tonnes of containerised cargo and 1,800 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 5,070 containers comprising of 2,635 containers import and 2,435 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 831 of 20's and 886 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 16 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 330 of 20's and 220 of 40's loaded containers while 191 of 20's and 737 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There was one ship namely Charlotte Schulte carrying containers sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were five vessels viz. CMA CGM Medea, APL Le Havre, Nordic Anne, Stolt Courage and Atlantic Manzanillo carrying containers, oil tankers and soyabean meal respectively currently at the berths.

PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 196,690 tonnes comprising 157,417 tonnes of import cargo and 39,273 tonnes of export cargo including 2,778 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

The total import cargo of 157,417 tonnes includes 45,416 tonnes of LNG; 77,414 tonnes of coal; 7,000 tonnes of soyabean; 7,078 tonnes of diesel oil; 7,000 tonnes of palm oil and 13,509 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 39,273 tonnes includes 39,273 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 2,778 containers comprising of 711 containers import and 2,067 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

There were two ships namely MOL Grandour and Cyprus Galaxy carrying containers and palm oil respectively sailed out to sea on Thursday morning, while three more ships namely APL Savannah, St. Sofia and Alam Mutiara carrying containers and coal respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of nine vessels were occupied berths to load/offload containers, soyabean, coal, LNG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

As many as five vessels viz. Ranger, Sakizaya Hero, Great Praise, Ariadne and Magda carrying soyabean, canola and coal respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were six ships viz. Maersk Bentonville, Houng Hai Developer, Great Praise, Ariadne, Nilofer Sultan and NCC Safa carrying containers, general cargo, coal, chemical and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Thursday.

There were four ships namely Maersk Bentonville, Nilofer Sultan, Houng Hai Developer and NCC Safa carrying containers, chemical, general cargo and palm oil respectively due to arrive on Thursday, while another ships namely Teno carrying containers is due to arrive on Friday.
