The Karachi Port handled 130,558 tonnes of cargo comprising 100,812 tonnes of import cargo and 29,746 tonnes of export cargo including 9,350 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Friday. The total import cargos of 100,812 tonnes comprised of 86,682 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,506 tonnes of DPA; 1,300 tonnes of rock phosphate and 11,324 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 29,746 tonnes comprised of 29,746 tonnes of containerised cargo and nil tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 9,350 containers comprising of 5,463 containers import and 3,887 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday. The breakup of imported containers shows 2,207 of 20's and 1,614 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 14 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 837 of 20's and 259 of 40's loaded containers while 738 of 20's and 897 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were five ships namely Nordmed, ER Felixstowe, Oriental Cosmos, Butinah and Gulf Coast carrying containers, chemical, rock phosphate and mogas respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were five vessels viz. MOL Gateway, Xin Beijing, MT Karachi, Global King-1 and GDF Suez North Sea carrying containers, oil tankers and fertilizer respectively currently at the berths.

PORT QASIM


A cargo volume of 141,192 tonnes comprising 110,258 tonnes of import cargo and 30,934 tonnes of export cargo including 3,366 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Friday. The total import cargo of 110,258 tonnes includes 46,000 tonnes of coal; 9,917 tonnes of mogas; 7,300 tonnes of palm oil; 5,241 tonnes of chemical and 41,800 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 30,934 tonnes includes 6,695 tonnes of rice; 2,085 tonnes of cement and 22,154 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 3,366 containers comprising of 2,200 containers import and 1,166 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday. There were two ships namely Astoria and NCC Maha carrying cement and chemical respectively sailed out to sea on Friday morning, while two more ships namely OOCL Washington and First Bridge carrying containers and rice respectively expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of ten vessels were occupied berths to load/offload containers, cement, soyabean, rice, coal, chemical, mogas, diesel oil and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours. As many as six vessels viz. Atlantic Plosta, W-Star, Noutical Jennifer, Ocean Enterprise, Maran Gas Coronis and Nordstar Intrepid carrying containers, soyabean, coal, LNG and mogas respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There was one ship viz. Chemroute Sun carrying chemical expected to take berth at Engro Vopak Terminal on Friday. There was one ship namely Chemroute Sun carrying chemical due to arrive on Friday, while two more ships namely Atlantic Flosta and Diyala carrying containers are due to arrive on Saturday.
