Pakistan strongly condemned the terrorist attack on an election rally of President Ashraf Ghani in Parwan province on Tuesday, in which reportedly 26 civilians including women and children lost their lives.

"Pakistan condemns terrorism in all its forms and manifestations. Pakistan fully supports the Afghan efforts for restoring complete peace and stability in the country through strengthening of the democratic process in Afghanistan," Spokesperson Foreign Office Dr Mohammad Faisal said in a statement.

He also offered heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families while praying for early recovery of those injured in the attack.

The Taliban have reportedly claimed responsibility for two separate suicide attacks in Afghanistan in which at least 48 people were killed and dozens others got injured.

As many as 26 people were killed when an election rally of Afghan President Ashraf Ghani was targeted by a suicide bomber in Parwan province. Another blast, near the US embassy in central Kabul, killed 22 people.

The latest waves of violence come following US President Donald Trump announced cancellation of the peace talks with the Afghan Taliban on September 8, 2019.
