A parliamentary delegation of PTI representatives from Sindh including MNAs Jai Parkash Lohana, Lalchand Malhi and Jamshed Thomas met with the Interior minister and expressed their concern over the situation of minorities in Sindh and incident of Ghotki which took place on September 14, 2019.
During the meeting, the minister informed the delegation that he has been in close contact with the chief secretary and inspector general of police (IGP) Sindh along with Rangers and other security agencies following the incident.
Shah also condemned the attack on temples and stated that attackers have been charged of blasphemy under the section 295-PPC. The people who incited the mob have been arrested and further investigations are under process.
"Everyone is equal before the law and nobody is allowed to take law in one's hands. Those who took law into their hands are behind the bars without any discrimination of their caste, color or religion. A significant progress has already been made in this case," he said.
According to reports, properties worth millions of rupees were attacked and several shops belonging to the Hindu community were looted on Sunday last by an enraged mob in Ghotki after the owner of a school was accused of committing blasphemy. According to the reports from the area, the people belonging to various sects took to the streets after learning that the school owner had allegedly made blasphemous remarks about Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).
