Sindh High Court (SHC) on Thursday sought the report from Sindh government, police and other departments about the recovery of seventy missing persons. A division bench of the SHC also ordered the departments concerned to produce these missing persons in the court after their recovery when the bench heard the petitions of families of around seventy persons, whose whereabouts are not known.

The court ordered Sindh government, police and other related departments to furnish the report by October 9, 2019 about these persons. The bench observed that it is the responsibility of state to provide protection to the citizens whereas many persons are missing for the last many months. The court observed that departments concerned should recover the missing persons rather than spending their times in correspondence between each other.

Meanwhile, a SHC bench issued notices to Mayor Karachi, Secretary Local Government Sindh and others in petition, filed by a woman against piling up garbage in the city. This is the second petition, in which the authorities concerned have been issued notices as the SHC already served the same notices to these authorities in another petition related to swarming flies in the city due to heaps of garbage. The petitioner submitted that Sindh Government, Mayor Karachi and other departments are not discharging their duties to clean the city as the garbage and offal of sacrificial animals are still lying on the streets and roads of the city. The petitioner pleaded the court to issue directives to authorities concerned to take measures for cleanliness as well as launching an awareness campaign in this regard.
