Prime Minister Imran Khan on Sunday constituted a high-level committee under the chair of Law Minister Farogh Naseem to map out a short-term, medium term and long-term mechanism for the resolution of problems related to Karachi.

The PM issued these directives while chairing a top-level meeting on the problems confronting Karachi. The committee would comprise Maritime Affairs Minister Ali Zaidi, Planning Minister Khusro Bakhtiar, Director General Frontier Works Organisation (FWO) Major-General Inam Haider Malik and other members. It would devise recommendations for the solutions regarding Karachi's problems that would be submitted to the PM.

The meeting reviewed progress on Clean Karachi campaign and development projects being launched in Karachi. According to a press release from the PM Office, DG FWO Major-General Inam Haider Malik briefed the meeting on Clean Karachi campaign and steps taken to clean the cosmopolitan.

The PM, according to the press release, said "people of Karachi are bearing the brunt of mal-governance and negligence of the rulers from the past." He also expressed 'strong concern' over the problems faced by Karachi and ordered to expedite measures for their resolution. The meeting was attended by the federal ministers, advisers, special assistants and other top government officials who briefed the PM on relevant issues.
