Karachi Mayor Wasim Akhtar on Friday said the city council and 30 million Karachiites stand shoulder to shoulder with Pak Army on the defence of country and solidarity with Kashmir. He was speaking at an event held in the Karachi Metropolitan Commissioner (KMC) head office in connection with the Defence Day and solidarity with Kashmir. "Our heart beats with Kashmiri brethren who are subjected to worst atrocities these days. Our voice should reach to whole world and the walls of the United Nations," he said.

Deputy Mayor Syed Arshad Hasan, city council parliamentary leader Aslam Shah Afridi and council members, chairmen of council committees, labour leader Zulfiqar Shah, elected representatives, KMC officers and staff were present on this occasion. Waseem said Kashmiris have rendered immense sacrifices. They have gone through trials tribulations in their struggle for independence. Thousands of people were arrested. The international community should play its role in the implementation of resolution passed by the United Nations Security Council for the Kashmir issue.

He paid tribute to the armed forces of Pakistan for their brave fight against the terrorism both in the country and at the borders and said that the city council and Karachiites stand with their army. City council parliamentary leader Aslam Shah Afridi and parliamentary leader of JUI Akbar Shah Hashmi also spoke on this occasion and expressed solidarity with Kashmiris.
