On the directives of Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Asif Saeed Khosa, implementation and coordination committee on model courts held its meeting in Sindh High Court (SHC) on Thursday. Meeting, chaired by Director General (DG) Monitoring Supreme Court reviewed the host of issues related to model courts. Registrar SHC, Additional Prosecutor General, Secretary Home Sindh, IG Prison Sindh and other high officials attended the meeting.

The meeting deliberated upon the non-appearance of witnesses in the case as well as non-availability of permanent prosecutors. It also took review of non-appearance of doctors as witnesses as well as delay in furnishing the medical reports and non-production of under-trial accused in courts from jails. IG Prison informed the meeting about non-production of under trial accused in cases from April 01 to 30 August 2019.

The meeting also took review of reasons in furnishing the chemical reports. DG Sohail Nasir informed the meeting that CJP had given the orders that no hurdles would be tolerated in the hearing of cases in model courts and added that non-appearance of witnesses and accused would not be accepted in the cases being heard by model courts. He also made it clear that delay in producing the forensic reports in model courts would not be accepted.
