To this, Law Minister Farogh Naseem questioned what should be the punishment for this offence. Qibla Ayaz replied that the CII has just put a suggestion and did not finalise punishment, however it can give its suggestions regarding punishment too if law ministry agrees. Naseem said this will lead to corrupt practices by police. The committee adjourned the divorce bill till next meeting.
Member Assembly Mehmood Bashir Virk questioned if divorce even if a husband says 'talaq' to his wife jokingly. The CII said, "Yes, divorce happens even if given jokingly. The Law Minister said if giving divorce is a crime in Sharia then he will support this law but if it is not a religious crime then we must refrain from such acts.
