Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr Kaleem Imam on Sunday directed the police to ensure proper implementation of contingency plan of Muharramul Haram across the province including Karachi, in letter and spirit. In a statement, the provincial police chief has asked the police to provide foolproof security to the Majalis venues; routes etc and protect the lives and properties of citizens from any untoward incident in all districts and zones of the province as par contingency and communication plan.

The contingency plan include, surveys of Juloos routes, renewal of permits and licenses for Majalis, timings of Majalis, use of all available resources to ensure law and order in the mega religious event, keep vigilance on the movements of terrorists and extremists, review of all arms and ammunitions anti riot kits, holding of meetings with the peace committees, establishment of peace committees on police stations level, establishment of control rooms for effective communications, availability of containers to block routs on necessary occasions,

He said all DIGs and SSPs should ask concerned police stations officers (SHOs) to conduct raids and take actions against organized crimes and thwart such nefarious designs with conducting raids and operations.
