German Ambassador Bernhard Schlagheck visited the Alhamra Art Centre on Monday along with the head of Press and Culture Christian Reason Berger. The ambassador met with Chairperson Board of Governor Lahore Arts Council, Munaza Hashmi and Alhamra Arts Council Executive Director, Ather Ali Khan and exchanged views on cultural aspects.

Speaking on the occasion, Munaza Hashmi said they are promoting positive social values through festivals in the field of arts by organising different festivals for children. "Our priority is to teach children art besides creating ways to give opportunities to youth. In this regard, we had organized Faiz Festival last year in which scholars from all across the world participated," she added.

The Alhamra Arts Council is promoting art and culture on national and international level. The incumbent government is taking serious steps to promote art and literature, she added. In addition, Executive Director Ather Ali Khan said that according to contemporary demands, the council is promoting 12 fields of art including theatre, literature, dance, ford children and music through festivals.

"The Alhamra is playing an essential role in creating positive image of Pakistan. There was a good public response on workshops, exhibitions, festivals and other activities," he added.
