Expressing his displeasure over the poor performance of Sindh Solid Waste Management Board (SSWMB), Sindh Chief Secretary Syed Mumtaz Ali Shah has directed the managing director of SSWMB to cancel the contract of Chinese company working in District East.

The chief secretary also assigned deputy commissioner to monitor the performance of Chinese companies and stated that these companies will be provided funds after certification of concerned deputy commissioners. He also directed the SSWMB to increase 4000 garbage cans in Karachi at various locations within three days.

The CS further stated that the provincial government had started Blue Jacket campaign in the city and all members of civil society, school children, and scouts should join the campaign to make city clean.

Commissioner Karachi Iftikhar Shelwani said the rain, Eidul Azha and 14th August came together and cleanliness in the city was challenge for the government but entire machinery available was mobilized. The meeting was attended by the commissioner, secretary local government, MD SSWMB and all deputy commissioners of Karachi.
