Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar chaired a high-level meeting on Friday in which security and cleanliness arrangements for the auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Azha were reviewed.

The CM said that special ceremonies, rallies and seminars will be held to show solidarity with the Kashmiris. "No one has accepted the most controversial Indian government's decision of changing the status of occupied Kashmir. We vigorously protest this undemocratic and unconstitutional act of Modi government and would continue to do so," the CM said.

The meeting also decided to actively engage line departments for boosting anti-dengue and anti-polio efforts. Price control measures were reviewed as well and it was decided that Roti price will remain the same. Different steps were discussed in the meeting to make Plan for Pakistan Programme a success along with an early solution of various matters pertaining to the establishment of new Arazi centers and acquiring of land.

The chief minister directed that best security measures should be arranged on Eid-ul-Azha adding that cabinet committee on law and order should ensure implementation of the devised security plan. Buzdar asked the administration and solid waste management companies to ensure best cleanliness arrangements on Eid-ul-Azha and disclosed that he will not go on leave during Eid days and would visit any city across the province to review the situation there. The line departments should also be fully prepared in the wake of rains and cleanliness in cattle markets should be ensured along with making special arrangements to keep the smooth flow of traffic around cattle markets, he said.

"I will not tolerate any laxity in cleanliness arrangements and the administration should keenly monitor the cleanliness arrangements," he added.

The CM also said that line departments should proactively perform their duties for the eradication of polio and dengue diseases and made it clear that no negligence will be tolerated in this regard.

In case of any negligence, strict action will be taken and Commissioners and DCs concerned should take practical steps. A special anti-polio campaign will be run in the last week of August on the directions of the chief minister.

The chief minister directed to take measures for stabilizing the prices of essential items. He said that Roti price will remain the same.

He said that the shortage of price-control magistrates should be fulfilled as soon as possible and crackdown be conducted against those creating artificial price hike.

The chief minister said that the Punjab government will plant two million saplings during the current monsoon season and the target of planting nine million saplings will also be achieved. He directed the Commissioners and DCs to proactively perform their duties in order to achieve the targets.
