The number of 3G and 4G users in Pakistan reached 68.93 million by end-June 2019 compared to 68.07 million by end-May 2019, said Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA). The number of mobile phone users in Pakistan reached 161.02 million by end-June compared to 161.183 million by end-May, which registered a decrease of 0.163 million during the period under review.

Jazz's total count for 3G users stood at 13.105 million by end-June compared to 13.192 million by end-May, registering a decrease of 0.087 million. Jazz 4G user numbers jumped from 10.337 million by end-May to 11.116 million by end-June. Zong 3G subscribers decreased from 8.678 million by end-May to 8.513 million by end-June while the number of 4G users jumped from 12.302 million by end-May to 12.658 million by end-June.

The number of 3G users of Telenor network decreased from 8.374 million by end-May to 8.174 million by end-June, ie, registering a decline of 0.2 million. The number of 4G users jumped from 6.301 million by end-May to 6.461 million by end-June.

Ufone 3G users decreased from 7.187 million by end-May to 7.015 million by end-June, registering a decline of 0.172 million. The number of 4G users of Ufone increased from 1.694 million to 1.886 million during the aforementioned period.

Teledensity for cellular mobile remained at 76.76 percent and number of broadband subscribers reached 71.241 million by end-June compared to 70.164 million by end-May.

The PTA received 6,186 complaints from telecom consumers against different telecom operators including (cellular operators, PTCL, LDIs, WLL operators and ISPs) as of June 2019.

According to PTA data Jazz (Mobilink + Warid) leads the chart with 1,899 complaints and Telenor stands at second position as the most complained telecom operator with 1,257 complaints.

The PTA said that it was able to get 6,174 complaints resolved, ie, 99.81 percent.

Cellular mobile subscribers constitute major part of overall telecom subscriber base, therefore, maximum number of complaints belong to this segment. Total number of complaints against CMOs by June stood at 5,048.

In terms of the segregation of complaints on operator basis, a total of 1899 complaints were received against Jazz which is 37.61% of the total CMO related complaints.

Telenor, which has the second largest number of consumers, was also second with 1257 ie. 24.90 percent complaints were received against it.

Zong stood third with 977 complaints, ie, 19.35 percent of total complaints.

Ufone had 915 complaints against its various services which make up 18.12 percent of the total CMO related complaints. The PTA also received 334 complaints against basic telephony where 329 were addressed during June 2019. Further 782 complaints were received against ISPs where 775 were addressed.
