The Standing Committee on Information, Broadcasting, National History and Literary Heritage of National Assembly on Monday sought a comprehensive report in the next meeting on the issue of nonpayment of salaries to media workers. The committee was chaired by MNA Mian Javed Latif, in which the committee directed to the secretary Ministry for Information & Broadcasting Division that the issues regarding the non-payment of salaries to the journalists and media workers shall be resolved before the next meeting.

Special Assistant to the Prime Ministry Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan briefed the committee on various technical issues regarding the Prime Minister's speech. Awan said digitalisation of Pakistan Television will be ensured to avoid incidents like interruption in Prime Minister Imran Khan's speech on 11th of this month.

She said Prime Minister's speech was in HD video while PTV system was SD and the incident happened due to mismatch of the technology. She also clarified that the message regarding broadcast of the speech at 9:15pm was also wrong. She said it will be investigated why PTV could not move to digital technology.

The meeting was attended by MNAs Engr Usman Khan Tarakai, Javaria Zafar Aheer, Syma Nadeem, Syed Aminul Haque, Ch Muhammad Shahbaz Babar, Nadeem Abbas, Maiza Hameed, Nafisa Shah, Naz Baloch and Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan. Secretary information and heads of the concerned departments were also present.
