Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Ali Muhammad Khan Tuesday visited the media workers' protest camp outside the Parliament House and assured them that the issue of their outstanding salaries would be resolved prior to Eid-ul-Fitr.

The minister assured them that he stands with them. He said he would talk to Special Assistant to the Prime Minister for Information and Broadcasting Firdous Ashiq Awan to resolve the matter amicably by discussing it with the owners of the media houses.

Former president of National Press Club Islamabad Afzal Butt is leading the protesting journalists. He apprised the minister of the issues faced by the journalists and the media workers, specially nonpayment of salaries.

Khan assured them that the government would take every step to resolve all the issues faced by the journalist community. He asked the media house owners to release the salaries of their staff before Eid-ul-Fitr.

Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser referred the matter to the concerned standing committee for looking into the matter on priority basis and report back to the house soon. The lawmakers belonging to both opposition and treasury also regretted the nonpayment of salaries to the media workers.
