Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser was briefed by Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration on post-protest developments on the kidnapping and murder of a girl in the city.

The protest was called off on the intervention of the National Assembly speaker on Tuesday last.

The chief commissioner Islamabad apprised that all the administrative actions as agreed between the family of the deceased girl and the administration, have been taken against the delinquent official who failed to amicably handle the issue. He further apprised that the judicial inquiry has been ordered to ascertain the facts and fix responsibility. He also informed that a summary would be moved to the Prime Minister for grant of compensation to the family of the deceased child. He regretted the irresponsible attitude of the police functionaries.

Later the speaker also met the family of the deceased girl. The speaker prayed for the solace of the deceased and fortitude to the family. He said that the perpetrators of the crime would not be spared and would be taken to task. He assured that justice would be dispensed and all the government functionaries responsible would be taken to task. He directed the ICT administration to keep him updated on the issue. MNA Ali Nawaz Awan, Mujahid Ali, inspector general of police ICT, chief commissioner Islamabad and other senior officers were present on the occasion.
