The journalist fraternity in Khyber tribal district on Friday observed the World Press Freedom Day was celebrated in Jamrud. In this connection score of local media persons beside general masses led by their President Awal Sher Afridi while carrying placards inscribed with slogans in favor of their demands, took out a rally from sport complex to Jamrud press club. They chanted slogans pertaining freedom of journalism.

Speaking on the occasion Awal Sher Afridi,ex-President Tribal Union of Journalists(TUJ)Khyber chapter, Qazi Fazalullah and others said that press was the forth pillar of the state and urged people of every walk of life to play their due role for free press. They paid rich tribute to martyred tribal journalists and said media persons of merged tribal districts had rendered unparalleled sacrifices for serving the locals and for freedom of press.
