The federal capital remained on high alert on the second consecutive day following escalation of tension between Pakistan and India. Local police strengthened security arrangements in the city, especially in Red Zone which houses Diplomatic Enclave, Prime Minister Secretariat, Parliament House, Supreme Court and the other government offices, and immediate adjacent areas.

Heavy contingents of the police and Rangers remained deployed on all roads leading to Red Zone as well as other parts of the city. Majority of the entry and exit points of Red Zone remained closed for traffic. The police were conducting strict search of vehicles entering areas, especially adjacent to Red Zone, while the police pickets have been set up in various parts of the city.

Gun-toting personnel of police stood alert on rooftops of buildings in the vicinity of Constitution Avenue. Patrolling of police and Rangers has been increased in order to avert any untoward incident. Commandoes of Islamabad police and personnel of Lady Police, Anti-Terrorists Squad (ATS), Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) and Quick Response Force were also deputed at different locations in the city.
