A separate engineering block sprawling over four hundreds acers of land may be established in proposed Allama Iqbal Industrial estate for the SME (Small and Medium Enterprises) units of Foundry and Allied Engineering, demanded Amjad Ali Amjad, chairman FCCI (Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry) Standing Committee on Agriculture Machinery and Allied Engineering.

Chairing a joint meeting of Agriculture Machinery, Allied Engineering and Foundry & Engineering sectors here on Wednesday, he said most of the Foundry and Engineering units are established in thickly populated and congested residential areas of Summundri Road. Due to increase in population, the industrial sector is facing multiple problems including environment challenges.

He expressed satisfaction that almost 90 percent plots in M3 Industrial City have already been sold-out while Faisalabad Industrial Estate Development & Management Company (FIEDMC) has planned to acquire another three thousand Acers of land for Allama Iqbal Industrial Estate. "It is a good option to shift industrial units from the thickly populated city areas as in this planned industrial estate, internationally compatible facilities would be provided.
