A group of tribesmen from newly merged districts have demanded of the government to announce a special financial package, tax-exemption and due share in China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project. Speaking at a news conference at Peshawar Press Club on Wednesday, Chairman Fata Grand Alliance, Malik Khan Marjan said that the government should increase tribal districts share in National Finance Commission.

He demanded that the newly merged tribal districts should be exempted from all taxes for next 10 years. He expressed concern over population census in the tribal districts.

He called for enforcement of local government system in the newly merged districts. He said that Khasadar force need to be strengthened instead of deployment of police in tribal region.

Malik Marjan said the tribal people are still deprived from right to appeal for justice in absence of law in merged tribal districts.

He demanded the appointment of 10 judges in tribunal for tribal districts.

He said the local tribesmen should be given representation in the proposed reforms committee.

He said that the erstwhile Fata seats in National Assembly and Senate should be retained.

He voiced concern over removal of tribal youth, working under different development projects and asked their services should be regularized. He strongly opposed the proposed reduction in funds for the tribal districts.

Accompanied by tribal elders - Malik Waris Khan Afridi, Malik Abdul Razzaq, Marjan demanded that the Prime Minister Housing Scheme should be extended to the newly merged tribal districts.

He urged the government to take measures to return the tribal displaced families from neighbouring Afghanistan.

He suggested that the Benazir Income Support Program should be made part of Insaf Health Card scheme. He said that government need to announce special scholarship programme for tribal students and double the current quota in educational institutions in settled part of the province.
