Faisal Anis Majeed, CEO Bombi's Group and Deputy Convener Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) for Standing committee on Rice has said that during the Gulfood 2019 Pakistani exporters' stalls were crowded by foreign delegates from different countries.
Foreign delegates also had B2B meetings with Pakistani exporters and discussed on increasing possibility of bilateral trade, he informed. "We had successful meeting with foreign delegates in which we discussed to explore possibilities of trading in nontraditional items and invited them to visit Pakistan," he added.
Faisal said that foreign delegates from Australia, Canada, Singapore, Dubai and others showed special interest in increasing trade ties with Pakistan.
He said that as India has banned imports of Pulses hence Pakistan should avail this opportunity and get good quality and competitive prices to meet national demand of Pulses. Pakistan can utilize its Industrial capacity to import pulses and export value added pulses to Asian and Gulf Countries.
Foreign delegates were excited to explore trade opportunities with Pakistan, of which they were invited for Pakistan, he added. This year over 4200 companies relate to beverages, dairy, meat and poultry, pulses, grains and cereals, fats and oils, food and power brands are participating in the exhibition.
Muzzammil R Chappal, Chairman, Cereal Association of Pakistan and leading Pakistani commodity exporter informed that this year also a large number of Pakistani companies participating in the exhibition to explore new markets.
He said that Pakistani exporters have got good response and Pakistani traders fetched business worth millions of dollar in the world's largest food fair.
He said that these types of exhibition can help to promote Pakistani brands across the world. Chappal urged the government to review pulses export policy and allow the export of commodities as it will help to further enhance the food sector exports.
