Earlier, Prosecutor General NAB Justice Asghar Haider (retd) informed the court that report regarding the matter has been submitted, adding the court's direction had been complied with.
Upon that Justice Qazi Faez Isa remarked that the court had directed NAB to take action against its officers for filing false reference. He asked whether this is comprehensive report, adding the report only mentions that next time this would not happen.
Justice Faez stated that the apex court had directed NAB to proceed, after thorough investigation, against the officers but the NAB has informed in the report that they are starting the investigation.
"Are these the details in your report?" the judge inquired from the prosecutor.
At this point the prosecutor general's stance was that all the details are not in the report. Justice Azmat asked the prosecutor general to file the comprehensive report and adjourned the hearing for three weeks.
The NAB had accused former KPK Chief Minister Sardar Mehtab Ahmad Khan Abbasi of misusing his official position in the purchase of 100,000 tonnes of red wheat from Karim Karobar at $151.57 per tonne against the lowest bid of South Asia for soft white wheat at $122.80 per tonne.
Sardar Mehtab, arrested in December 1999, had been awarded 14 years rigorous imprisonment plus a fine of Rs 20 million by an accountability court.
However, Lahore High Court, Rawalpindi Bench, in April 2003, had acquitted Abbasi, clearing him of corruption charge. Mehtab, who was present in the court at the time of announcement of judgement, had stated that the accountability of the NAB people, who had involved him in a false case, would be done in the court of Almighty Allah.
