In another incident of targeted killing, two unidentified armed assailants gunned down three persons including two brothers in Lahore's Baghbanpura Police precincts on Monday morning. Police said the victims, identified as Ghanni, Zain and Miraj alias Labha, were working at their shop when two unidentified persons riding a motorbike opened indiscriminate fire at them. They added that Ghanni and Zain were real brothers while Miraj was their cousin. The brothers were butchers while Miraj was their helper.

According to initial investigation and CCTV footage of the crime scene, the accused used a machine-gun and pistol. The video showed that one suspect was wearing a shawl to hide the machine-gun while the other was wearing a helmet. It may be noted that this is the second incident of triple murder in the metropolis during the last four days raising serious questions over the performance of Dolphin Force and Police Response Unit (PRU).

Eyewitnesses said they were busy in their daily work when they suddenly heard huge velocity sound of gun-shots followed by screams. "When we rushed to the spot, the suspects managed to flee while the victims were lying in a pool of blood," they said.

Immediately after the incident, rescuers, police and forensic experts reached the spot and collected forensic evidences and recorded statements of the eyewitnesses. At least 40 empties were recovered from the crime scene. They also removed the bodies to a morgue for autopsy.

The investigators said the initial investigations suggested that the motive behind the heinous crime was an old enmity. However, further investigations are underway and final conclusion will be drawn after analyzing the autopsy report and ascertaining further facts. Two days earlier, the Model Town investigations police had arrested a suspect Azeem for murdering two women and a minor in Naseerabad.
