National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has recommended the Ministry of Interior to place name of Shahbaz Sharif, Opposition Leader in the National Assembly and President Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), on Exit Control List (ECL). The NAB sources said that the Bureau wants to place name of Shehbaz Sharif on no-fly list as investigations into allegations of corruption and corrupt practices against him are under way and there is a possibility that he can flee the country to avoid the process of law.

He said the decision to put the names of the Sharif on no-fly list was made by Chairman NAB Justice Javed Iqbal (retd) and a letter has been sent to the Ministry of Interior in this regard. Sharif is facing NAB investigations in Aashiana Housing Scheme scam and Ramzan Sugar Mills case. The NAB had arrested Sharif on October 5 last year in the Aashiana Housing Scheme scam when he appeared before it to join investigation in Punjab Saaf Pani corruption case. The Lahore High Court on February 14 last granted bail to Shehbaz Sharif.
