Pakistan has called back its High Commissioner in New Delhi Sohail Mahmood for consultation amid tension in the wake of Pulwama attack. "We have called back our high commissioner in India for consultations. He left New Delhi this morning," said Foreign Office spokesperson Dr Mohammad Faisal in a tweet on Monday. Sources said that High Commissioner Sohail Mahmood will brief Prime Minister Imran Khan, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi and other senior officials on the Modi government's aggressive attitude and take input from the leadership for future course of action.

Last week, India called back its High Commissioner to Pakistan Ajay Bisaria for consultations after India levelled serious allegations against Pakistan following an attack on security forces in the Indian occupied Kashmir, in which over 40 Indian Central Reserve Police Force personnel were killed and several others got injured.

Soon after the attack, Indian ministers and media launched a propaganda campaign alleging Pakistan's involvement in the attack. Pakistan, however, rejected the allegations, saying the attack in Pulwama in the Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir is a matter of grave concern. "We have always condemned heightened acts of violence in the Valley. We strongly reject any insinuation by elements in the Indian government and media circles that seek to link the attack to the State of Pakistan without investigations," Foreign Office Spokesperson Dr Mohammad Faisal said in a statement on Thursday last.
