Meanwhile, hearing the petitions of Anwar Majeed, Hussain Lawai and Talha Raza, accused in money laundering case, a division bench headed by Justice Aftab Gorar sought the progress report from NAB about the transfer of the case from Karachi to Islamabad. The court was informed by FIA Additional Director that case was transferred to NAB and now the formalities are being completed in this regard. The NAB Prosecutor requested the court not to hear the bail petitions of the accused and contended that letter of NAB chairman would be submitted in few days which he had signed for the transfer of the case. Court put off the hearing of the case till February 21, 2019.
Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Fayral Talpur on Friday contested the argument against her on alleged possessing of Iqama. A division bench of Sindh High Court (SHC) heard the petition filed by Moazzam Abbasi through his counsel Khawja Shamsul Islam. The latter claimed that JIT has proved everything in money-laundering case against accused, including Faryal Talpur and his brother Asif Ali Zardari among the host of others.
Farooq Naek contested his claim and argued that the apex court had ordered National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to hold investigations on JIT. SHC division bench headed by Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar ordered continuation of arguments on February 22, 2019 when it would resume the hearing. Prior to that, the counsels of both parties exchanged heated words, compelling the bench to intervene to make both silent.
The counsel for petitioner said that the assets of Faryal Talpur should be probed to ascertain how these were accumulated. He requested that the apex court's judgment in former prime minister Nawaz Sharif's case should also be applied to Faryal Talpur.
Defence Counsel, however, argued that reference of the apex court's ruling on JIT is irrelevant. He stated that court decides the cases and not the media medial trials. The Iqama related pleas had also been filed against Sohail Anwar Sial and Manzoor Wasan.
