Divisional Commissioner Asif Iqbal Ch VC GC Women University Dr Sofia Anwar, Rector NTU Dr Tanvir Hussain, ex-minister for textile Mushtaq Cheema, MPA Latif Nazar, president Chamber of Commerce Syed Zial Alamdar Hussain, industrialists Mian Idreen, Mian Latif, Kashif Zia, chairperson Knitting Department Dr Hafsa Jamshed, students and others were also present on the occasion. The objective of the event was to enhance interaction between researchers, professionals and industry workers in the field of knitting.
Addressing the event, minister for social welfare Ajmal Cheema appreciated the holding of competitions in knitting and said that the link between the industry and academia was very much imperative to promote the innovative and advanced ideas/techniques for the development and progress of textile and other industries. He said that present government was following multidimensional policies for the development of the industries and investment.
He said that employment opportunities could also be generated through these economic activities. He said that in Pakistan, every second person is directly or indirectly linked to textile and every person across the globe is an end user of textile product.
Divisional Commissioner Asif Iqbal Ch said that it was excellent step to make students to think creatively and innovation technology based-solutions. He said that such steps helped to encourage them to work on practical utilization of knowledge and to encourage entrepreneurship culture within textile engineering students which facilitate and support innovation. He assured all out cooperation by the divisional administration to promote linkage between academia and industries for the development of textile sector.
