In its weather outlook for the month of February 2019, the Meteorological Department of Pakistan (PMD) has forecast above normal rainfall throughout the country. However the mountainous areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, AJ&K and Gilgit Baltistan (GB) may receive above normal snowfall during the period as well.

It said that day and night time temperatures will gradually increase in February. The average nights Temperatures over the country are likely to be slightly above normal during the month.

Westerly wave is affecting upper parts of the country and may persist till Friday Rain thunderstorm is expected at scattered places in Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Hazara divisions, Islamabad, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir, while at isolated places in Sargodha, Faisalabad, Peshawar, Mardan, Kohat and Malakand divisions. Snowfall over hills is also expected in Malakand division (Swat, Chitral, Kalam, Malamjabba & upper Dir), Hazara division, Murree, Galliyat, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan during the period

Weather Forecast for Friday:

Mainly cold and dry weather is expected in most parts of the country. However, rain thunderstorm (with snowfall over the hills) is expected at isolated places in Hazara, Rawalpindi divisions, Islamabad, Gilgit Baltistan and Kashmir

Today's Lowest Minimum Temperatures: Bagrote -07°C, Kalam, Kalat -06°C, Gupis, Malamjabba, Parachinar, Skardu -04°C. Quetta -2, Islamabad 05. Peshawar o4 , Chitral 02, Muzaffarabad 03, Lahore 08, Hyderabad 08 and Karachi 13 C.

The position of the river inflows and outflows at Tarbela, Mangla and Chashma along with the reservoirs levels and the barrages on Thursday was as under:

Rivers: Indus at Tarbela: Inflows 18600 cusecs and Outflows 25000 cusecs, Kabul at Nowshera: Inflows 8000 cusecs and Outflows 8000 cusecs, Jhelum at Mangla: Inflows 9700 cusecs and Outflows 5000 cusecs, Chenab at Marala: Inflows 12600 cusecs and Outflows Nil cusecs.

Barrages: Jinnah: Inflows 41200 cusecs and Outflows 41200 cusecs, Chashma: Inflows 33400 cusecs and Outflows 39000 cusecs, Taunsa: Inflows 36200 cusecs and Outflows 35900 cusecs, Panjnad: Inflows 7000 cusecs and Outflows 2500 cusecs, Guddu: Inflows 24300 cusecs and Outflows 21200 cusecs, Sukkur: Inflows 17800 cusecs and Outflows 4000 cusecs, Kotri: Inflows 3600 cusecs and Outflows Nil cusecs.

Reservoirs (Level and Storage): Tarbela: Minimum operating level 1386 feet, present level 1431.46 feet, maximum conservation level 1550 feet, live storage today 0.843 million acre feet (MAF). Mangla: Minimum operating level 1050 feet, present level 1125.45 feet, maximum conservation level 1242 feet, live storage today 0.936 MAF.
