Peshawar will host the first-ever Youth Games of Pakistan to be organized under the aegis of Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) in the Olympic year 2020. The was announced by Vice President of the Pakistan Olympic Association Syed Aqil Shah while addressing a dinner-reception he arranged in the honor of the newly elected office-bearers of Sports Writers Association KP and Video Journalist Forum here at a local hotel.

Syed Aqil Shah, who is also President KP Olympic Association and former Sports Minister, said that the decision has been taken in the general council of KP Olympic Association to bid for the youth games. The POA want to hold Youth Games in every Olympic year. He said certainly with holding of Youth Games it would benefit to find out new faces in various disciplines.

The result of the games would not be immediately come rather after holding two to three editions Pakistan would be able to field that short-listed talented players for the Olympics. He said during the meeting the Federal Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC) Dr. Fahmida Mirza and President Pakistan Olympic Association Lt. Gen (Retd) Arif Hassan, it was decided to involve POA in holding the Youth Games. "We have already prepared a plan to bid for the Games," Syed Aqil Shah added.

POA chief he said, categorically said that it is the mandate of the POA to supervised first ever Youth Games under the umbrella of Pakistan Olympic Association with the collaboration of IPC and Pakistan Sports Board.
