Speaking at a joint press conference held at Federation House here, Daroo Khan President FPCCI said that Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) is misinterpreting the SC order and now started issuing notices, which he termed as unjustified and requested the SC to issue clarification in this regard.
He also demanded action against the officials involved in granting NOCs for the construction of these buildings in the city on converted plots. He feared that this action would not only lead to stop investments in this construction sector but also affect Premier's five-million housing project.
Furthermore, he urged the government to take ABAD on board in policy decisions and restrain SBCA from taking such harsh move especially against those projects, which fulfilled all legal formalities.
Patron-in-chief Mohsin Sheikhani said that this action would directly affect the general public hence the concerned authority instead of taking such measures should take all stakeholders on board to improve master plan.
Meanwhile, chairman ABAD Hassan Bakshi elaborated that the decision given by SC was not meant to demolish all residential buildings in the city but to take action against illegal construction.
He said that the authority had collected Rs25billion as commercialisation and infrastructure charges against the construction of some 930 edifices during last 15 years hence he requested the apex court to review its decision in the larger interest of general public.
