Punjab Industries and Trade Minister Mian Aslam Iqbal has said that there is no communication gap between the government and traders; facilities will be provided in industrial zones with the consultation of industrialists.

He expressed these views during a meeting with a delegation of Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry here on Tuesday, which was led by its Senior Vice President Waqas Akram Awan. On the occasion, matters related to problems facing Sialkot industry, revival of dry port and issues regarding export processing zone were discussed.

Addressing the meeting, the Minister said that it is the responsibility of the government to provide facilities and an atmosphere conducive for investors and they will fulfill this responsibility. "New job opportunities will be created by promoting industry and state-of-the-art economic corridor is being established on Lahore-Sialkot Motorway, which will help industrialists," he added.

He told them that work has started on clubbing taxes and this step of the government will facilitate the industrialists. While setting up a committee, the Minister said that it will give recommendations regarding revamping of tax system and resolving the problems of industrialists. "The DG Industry will be convener of this committee while representatives of leading chambers of Punjab will be its members," he added.

He also said that the Sialkot Dry Port will be made fully functional. "A committee has also been set up by the Federal Finance Minister to activate the export processing zone and this committee will give its recommendations within two months," he added. Punjab Industries Secretary Nadeem ur Rehman, Punjab Small Industries Corporation MD Riaz Hameed Chaudhary and other concerned officers were also present in the meeting.
